Associate Director, Levett Career Center

The Associate Director will contribute strategic, analytical, and collaborative decision-making regarding experiential learning opportunities within and outside of the classroom.  Responsibilities include conducting on-campus outreach (e.g., classroom visits and presentations), internship intake data collecting and reporting, assisting students, faculty, and recruiters throughout the experiential learning exploration and placement cycle.  Working closely with the Executive Director in the Levett Career Center, the Associate Director provides career coaching to students and alumni and cultivates relationships with internal and external contacts and partners.  The Associate Director will serve as the direct supervisor and manager of the Career Peer Mentors Program.
 
Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Create and initiate targeted communication and programming that supports a Career Everywhere model, scaling up career services to reach higher levels of impact and student success
  • Provide career coaching programs and resources through career assessment, exploration and decision making, experiential learning activity and job search, professional development, and graduate school search techniques
  • Collaborates with on-campus partners (i.e., Office of Student Life, Office of Study Abroad, and Gladish Learning Center) and faculty members outside of Pathway Programs (i.e., Arts and Letters and Humanities), to align efforts and to reach students’ goals and needs
  • Directs and assists students with required paperwork to enroll in their academic internships, as well as collects internship information from students who will be completing a non-academic internship or research program
  • Coordinates communication between onsite supervisors regarding components of the academic internship course, as well as their responsibility to approve weekly timesheets and complete a post-internship evaluation
  • Maintains communication with frequent internship hosts and seek new relationships, to expand opportunities for students and continue in positive relationships with employers for future placements
  • Arrange on-campus recruitment visits for internship placements
  • Identify and build employer partnerships with focus on expansion in Louisville, KY, Cincinnati, OH, and Indianapolis, IN; consider various industries as well as types of businesses and organizations (non-profit, for-profit, government agencies
  • Works with Executive Director to develop strong relationships with key executives in human resources and talent management, to build partnerships and pipelines of post-graduation placement
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Manage the Career Peer Mentors Program, student workers who support the Levett Career Center staff in its mission by providing services outside of the office’s staffed hours; includes hiring, training, and supervising Career Peer Mentors
  • Monitor and approve timecards for student workers
Other Responsibilities: 
  • Assist students with completing the FutureFoundations program and professional competency tools
  • Support management of HanoverConnect, system supporting student, alumni, and employer engagement
  • Serve as liaison to Ascend Indiana and Orr Fellowship
  • Attend Levett Career Center programs and events, as needed
  • Promote a positive image of Hanover College and represent the College in accordance with the College’s mission, principles, and strategic plan
  • Support and is an advocate for the College’s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, goals, and mission
  • Perform / complete other projects and tasks assigned by Executive Director
Qualifications:
 
Education, Certifications, Training, Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 2 – 3 years in professional position; preferably in higher education, recruitment, or partnership development
  • Emphasis in communication, technology, business, or other related fields

  • Strong interpersonal skills; developed effective communication skills to build relationships and strong networks

  • Ability to work independently as well as work collaboratively
