Lego Robotics

Southwestern Jefferson County Consolidated Schools, Duke Energy, EcO15, and Madison Chamber & Industrial Development present Lego Robotics Camp at Southwestern Elementary School. There are three levels of camp and two sessions throughout the summer. The program is open to all Jefferson County students.

WeDo I: Students who have completed grade K, 1, or 2 will investigate, build, and interact with basic robot designs and concepts through the use of Lego WeDo. Students will improve communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills as they learn (STEM) Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and literacy. 
Requirement: None

EV3 Base I: After finishing grades 3, 4, or 5, students will have their first experience with the high tech Lego Mindstorm EV3 robotics platform. Here, students will engage in (STEM) Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, and Computer Science as they build, program, and test their first robot with the EV3.
Requirement: None

EV3 Expansion I: At the conclusion of students' 6th, 7th, or 8th grade year, they have the opportunity to advance their knowledge of robotics. These students will build, program, and test robot designs and functions that provide additional challenges and capabilities. This course will require strong skills in collaboration and problem solving.
