Assistant/Associate Director of Student Financial Planning

Primary Function: As part of the office of student financial services, this fast-paced position will interact as a collaborative partner with the registrar, student life, student success and business offices. Responsible for billing and collecting all student payments, loans, and scholarships, managing the Transact Campus Payment system, and maintaining highly confidential student data.

Administrative Responsibilities:
• Manages overall student payment process of billing, receipting, and collecting payments, scholarships, and loans.
• Exercise discretion and independent decision-making regarding student account holds, registration, and appropriate payment plans.
• Ensures payments are posted to the correct revenue and student accounts.
• Prepares and distributes necessary reports for the office of student financial services and the business office staff and other departments as necessary.
• Responsible for the management and updates of the Transact Campus Payment system to ensure all bills and reminders are sent in a timely manner and accounts are properly credited and adjusted according to payments made and payment plans established or edited.
• Ensure each student's payments are collected and loans are appropriately applied.
• Responsible for preparing and reporting 1098-T tuition tax statements each calendar year.
• Exercises confidentiality regarding student data information (ex. health issues, personal financial situations, etc.).
• Audits records in database to ensure the integrity of all information as correct, consistent, and current.
• Researches problem situations and communicates with student housing and/or registrar's office to verify correct information.
• Assists with financial aid packaging for returning students.
• Responsible for collecting financial aid verification documents and completing verifications for selected students.
• Responsible for reporting and reconciling student information with the Indiana Commission for Higher Education.
• Provides general support to the office of student financial services.
• Provides customer service to all students, parents, and constituents of the college.

Other Responsibilities:
• Promotes a positive image of Hanover College and represents the college in accordance with the college's mission, principles, and strategic plan.
• Supports and is an advocate for the college's diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, goals, and mission.
• Performs / completes other projects and tasks assigned by the executive director of student financial services.

Qualifications:

I. Education, Certifications, Training, Experience
• Bachelor's Degree required
• Cash handling
• GAAP (general accepted accounting principles)
• Data management and integrity
• Knowledge of financial aid principles and practices

II. Skills, Competencies, Abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Access)
• Strong organizational and administrative skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with Transact Campus Payment and Jenzabar a plus
• Strong computer skills including the ability to quickly grasp challenging software and processes
• Extreme accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong customer service and collection skills

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
• Continuous computer work requiring multiple hours of looking at monitors and paperwork
• Long periods of sitting and typing. Demanding and somewhat stressful with time sensitive requirements
• Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality and privacy, and an adherence to high ethical standards
