Madison Courier 10K Run/Walk
8:15 a.m. from Madison Consolidated High School to Lytle Park
Now in its 38th year, The Madison Courier 10K Run and Walk annually draws hundreds of runners and walkers — and many more spectators — to a scenic 6.2-mile road course that takes participants from Madison’s hilltop to downtown.
Defending champ Kyle Stansbury, 30, of Springville, ran the course 31:57 last year. The top female in 2016 was Switzerland County High School sophomore Leah Anders, 15, of Rising Sun, who ran the course in 43:11.
The honorary starter of this year’s Courier 10K is former Southwestern and Hanover College track and field standout Savannah Hubbard.
Entry forms are available at The Madison Courier, located at 310 West St. in downtown Madison, online at?www.madisoncourier.com, or at the starting area at Madison Consolidated High School’s Salm Gymnasium on race day from 6:30 a.m. until time of race.
Entry fee is $25 for the run and $15 for the walk. Participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt and a packet. Top three finishers in each of the eight male and eight female age divisions in the run will receive awards created especially for the event. The walk is a non-competitive event and no awards are presented.
